I agree this was one of my favorite cards to use when I first started playing MTG.

3 cc for a fairly easily attained three cards? Probably overshadowed by Necropotence, I suppose, but it seems like a pretty decent card.

I third that, this card is awesome in animator decks, solid classic that was also reprinted in the Coldsnap deck "Beyond the Grave"

I love this thing, for most black decks in general, it reads "When enchanted creatures dies, greatly benefit yourself"
Reanimator? Discard a big creature and reanimate it
Sui-black? get more creatures to play, get rid of an unecesarry land, whatever
Control probably wouldn't want this since it tends to be creature light, or even creatureless, but if it did it would probably be on an expendable little gatekeeper of malakir or something, so you get advantage out of it even when it dies
4/5 for me

Once again proving how OP Ancestral Recall is considering this is pretty good.

this thing is awesome, why is it's score so low?

Well, it's score is low wolfbear2, because it's unreliable.
Example: you want to draw cards now. But maybe neither you nor your opponent have creatures in play. Or maybe there are creatures in play, but you have no way to kill them. Or maybe in response to you playing the aura, someone gets rid of the target, by killing it, or bouncing it. Then your aura is countered. Or maybe once the aura is in play, someone bounces the creature before you can kill it. Or puts it on top of it's owners library or whatever. So, it's not horrible, but it's just too unreliable to be really good.
