Combine with Spike Rogue and you have a nice +1/+1 counter generator, or use Braid of Fire

This works well with Power Conduit as a counter creator. I especially like it Ferropede.

Leech Bonder and Fate Transfer seem like good cards to combine with this cool and interesting creature. It is +1/+1 counter generation in blue, which is rare.
