Wow, so many haters, I'm shocked this card doesn't have a higher rating.
I actually think this card is really useful, for several reasons. I run an Izzet storm/draw deck with a mana curve of almost solely 1, 2, and a few 6 cmc cards. Because the deck is purposefully designed to make you mill like crazy, I pack it with resets like Time Reversal and Elixir of Immortality, which will both help you draw more, and keep you from killing yourself. In a longer match I'll usually hit about thirty cards in the graveyard and start resetting by turn eight to ten, the problem at this point is cycling my mana ramp. When I hit the reset I wind up with all of the Terramorphic Expanses, Evolving Wilds and Scalding Tarns in my hand, when all of my mana is already in play. These cards are now the only thing preventing a win, because they keep me from drawing till a nuke like Grapeshot/autoc... (see all)

Let's also not forget how obnoxious Crucible of Worlds decks are. Especially with the aforementioned Knight of the Reliquary, or perhaps Countryside Crusher. Though Mudhole won't shut down the crusher, it will stop it from going off over and over with land sac. outlets like Zuran Orb or Claws of Gix.

This was made to deactivate someones threshold. If they wanted to keep it land only, it should cost Red and draw a card.

Or keep it this same cost, but have it deal 1 damage for each land removed this way.

actually life from the loam is a preety good card it has perfect use with the dredge ability in the colgari guild from ravnica
