the flavour here is kind of confusing...it dies, and you draw a card, do you use it's dead body as bait for fishing?

No, I think the flavor text means that the defender and hunter for the village will one day do battle for the village. and even if he falls, his spear will be used by another. So to follow the text, the creature should be a 1/2 flyer, that has rule text comes into play with a Token equipment card that reads, Aven Spear, Equipped Creature gains +1/+0. Equip cost 1, automatically equips Aven Fisher when it comes into play. Or better yet, a equipment permanent named Aven Fisher Spear, that has the same ability, and when Aven Fisher comes into play, attach this spear for free, or if no legal targets, search your library for Aven Fisher Spear and attach to Aven Fisher. The ability to draw a card is a blue common throwback to make higher casting cost commons have flying and allow you to draw a card upon some sort of activation. In this case maybe the flavor text should have read, "Few have greater knowledge of tactics than those who use their hunting skills to defend their own, even after d... (see all)
