Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle would be my current favorite use of this card. G X*3 as a casting cost for colorless damage is okay.

Step 1: Play a low mana cost GW deck.
Step 2: Play this quick with mana ramp and coerce your opponent into searching most of his/her lands.
Step 3: Play Limited Resources and laugh. ^_^

With SoM now, I have a deck based around Tunnel Ignus + Invader Parasite. With one of each out, my opponent can only search for one card. In a monodeck, that is a guaranteed 2 damage. Every land after that costs 5 life to my opponent. Certainly not the most powerful combo, but it is fun. Although I do have to admit that it becomes significantly less powerful against multicolored decks (although it is still 3 life every land after the first thanks to the Ignus).
Other than that, it is just a bunch of landfall effects that really make this card shine. Lotus Cobra pretty much negates the cost of this spell so you can throw something else out there, Avenger of Zendikar is....yeah, overrun your opponents with Rampaging Baloths. The list goes on (Roil Elemental is my favorite though).
