This was quite a move for the time - create a creature with Banding with a big enough body to matter. Attacking as a band would allow you to absorb 2 damage with this while saving your other banders - which tended to be puny Kjeldoran Skyknights, Mesa Pegasus or Pikemen. While banding is lost to time, I imagine someday we will see a useful and similar ability without the complicated baggage, such as the Kor ability.
