@land_comment: you can't sacrificed tapped lands the card specifically says untapped island.

@Zyvlyn no. It says IF Soldevi Excavations would enter the battlefield. Not WHEN. That's where you're getting confused. The wording is correct.

The reason it doesn't say scry 1 is because you can't put the card(s) back in any order. There isn't an effect that would cause it to be a big deal now but if an effect said "If you would look at the top X of your cards look at x+1 instead" then it would effect this card differently than scry 1.

At first glance I thought "Meh" but upon re-reading it I found out this is a decent card, good for midgame for multicolored decks. It somewhat compensates the mana loss and allows you to trim your deck a little. A good 4/5.

THe best of the "sac lands" in Alliances I think. The fact that it produces 2 mana makes up for the sacrafice, and it's ability is very useful. I always toss mine into a any mono blue deck I make. :)

This is a great card you play a land like a plains first turn, sac it and then bingo 2 mana on the first turn.

Ahhhhhhhh. This asks for Halimar Excavator. Tip: Tapped lands can be sacrificed.

This is one example of the errata text actually being less clear than the original. The way the errata is written, this will technically cause you to sac all your untapped islands, then bury it, since it is still coming into play after the effect takes place.
I really hate the way Wizards uses the word "instead".
