its not strictly worse than ragged veins, it does damage instead of loss of life. Before planeswalkers that only mattered with Furnace of Rath in play, but now...

This card is KILLER when combined with Pestilence or other cards that deal damage to all creatures and players.

This card got completly outdated with the printing of Ragged Veins.

The art for this card is legendary in an infamous sort of way. Robert Bliss used to sneak sexual imagery into his cards (see also: Ekundu Cyclops). Since he no longer does this, I can only assume WotC gave him some sort of ultimatum should he wish to continue working for them. After all, the game is marketed to both kids and adults.
