How is it that Sutured Ghoul is rated so much higher than this?
I just find it...
...fascinating.

Because the +1/+1 counters and the graveyard removal are now two separate effects, each triggers separately. This means you can let the Zombie Mob come into play with its +1/+1 counters, then respond to the second effect by activating something like Balthor the Defiled or even a good old-fashioned Feldon's Cane. Have your cake and eat it too... except the cake is made of dead people. So... Soylent Cake then.
I agree though, Mortivore is still better in most cases. If you're playing the kind of deck that would be running this card chances are good you don't really care much about the 2 extra power.

Two extra power, and it doesn't hurt that its an uncommon rather than a rare, but Mortivore is cooler and regenerates, also the new Bonehoard isnt even black.
@Boakes247
I guess I should clarify, Bonehoard is a colorless card and doesn't require black mana.

Unmorph Infernal Caretaker in response to his triggered ability! Exile nothing!
...but yeah, not really that crazy from today's perspective (see Innistrad's Unbreathing Horde), but actually pretty good considering it's an uncommon from Mirage.

To remove all creature cards from its graveyard is most of the time not a very intuitive thing to do for a black deck.
If you want a creature to profit from creatures in your graveyard, play Soulless One instead (or Mortivore if you don't need a zombie).

@Kryptnyt Well, the germ it creates is black though.

Put this guy in your graveyard, then play Zombie Apocalypse! Mwahaha! Oh, wait...

This guy has amusing interactions with Torpor Orb. He gets the +1/+1 counters when he comes into play, but since his second ability (removing creatures from your graveyard) is a triggered ability, Torpor Orb stops it. Best of both worlds. Overall a fun classic card.
