Ever noticed that triggers which let unblocked creatures "exchange" their combat damage for another useful trait are pretty much outdated?
You'll just get the effect without having to renounce the combat damage.
This 2/2 four-drop for instance which might steal an artifact card (which your opponent doesn't necessarily have) might easily also deliver its 2 damage once it gets through.
Even more useful cards of that sort like Ophidian would still be far from broken.

Yet another card that combos with Dwarven Warriors, although in this case, Crafty Pathmage makes more sense.

Of course you'd have to give this evasion of some sort to get him around that Blightsteel Colossus. Crafty Pathmage, Deepchannel Mentor, Ethereal Usher are options to make him unblockable. Blue has plenty of evasion-granting spells and abilities.
I bet if this card had a more useful creature type like merfolk it wouldn't be rated 2.5/5. Then again this was from before creature types got particularly important.
