I need some advice here. I recently played with a few friends and one of them used magmaquake to kill all my creatures. They argued that it worked since the damage was indirect. Would that indeed work to kill this creature?
I am also curious if deathtouch and/or lifelink actually work with wizards like this that deal direct damage. I thought that the damage from their abilities didn't count as combat damage, but I see that Basilisk collar was suggested to be used with this card.

He's like the anti-pinger, taking down Prodigal Pyromancers and Cunning Sparkmages all day!
@Kevlar_Axis: Yeah, that'll kill it: This card can only not be targeted by red spells or abilities, and Magmaquake doesn't target. If it had PROTECTION from red then the damage would be prevented by the protection ability, but in this case the firewalker does not.

Still falls to pyroclasm, and only effective if they have x/1 creatures against red. Of course you can combo with deathtouch or something.
