You cast Blasphemous Act for 1?
How cute.

This card is anything but overpriced.
When you consider the only other options people have posted just prevent damage to a single target (you) from a single specific source type, and in some cases how that source deals the damage matters, this is actually amazing.
Let every deck with a Megrim, Pestilence, Dingus Egg/Armageddon, Bloodfire Collossus, Meteor Shower, etc... quiver in fear.
In a team game, this card can be the difference between losing your team mates and their entire army, and defeating your opponent in a single turn.

I agree it's too expensive, but I don't think that boros fury shield is much better. First, as was mentioned, the fury shield only works on creatures (and only attacking orb blocking ones). Reflect Damage works on just anything. And it can also prevent damage dealt by creatures with shroud, protection or anything else, since it doesn't target (while fury shield has to be able to target)

Well, Reverberation may be better against Earthquake, but this would be a fun answer to Crypt Rats or Windstorm.

If the source is a creature, try Boros Fury-Shield instead. There's probably better options for non-creature sources also, though the best I can think of off the top of my head is Reverse Damage.

Too costy, would be great if it were cheaper. Hope they make cheaper reprint of this.

you most likely wont have five mana untapped when this card would be useful. but interesting artwork.

a little high cost, but definitely works with the Boros style of play.
