@Darth:
That there is why most players hate Infect. It's so easily abused that it takes no original thinking to come up with a strategy. Essentially, your opponents start with half their life, they can't gain life, and all pump spells do double duty.

That said, I never turn aside creature sacrifice without giving it a good thought over. It's always a nice way of taking care of creatures that might be getting out of hand (I'm looking at you, Ravenous Demon..), and there are plenty of ways to turn it into an advantage (Howdy, Anger). This is a quick and easy way to sac early, when your engine isn't running yet.

It's a nice finisher, when you need to sneak an extra 4 points from a blocked attacker to an unblocked (or sac a defender), but too limited.

Highly underrated. People have got to use their imaginations. The speed is unlike others. Ah, but you say why don't I just use blood lust. It's in black. That's why. I love these cheap power cards that are underestimated in black. I like wretched anurid, flesh reaver, treacherous Pit-dweller, and nyxathid

EVERY TIME I see this card I think it's an enchantment and get really excited.

"Holy Crap! why don't I use this! This is so good!"

Then I see 'Instant' in the type-line......

I am disappoint, over and over, and over, and over..........

lol- my 5-star rating gave it a whole half-star average increase.

5-stars for this is insane you say? Ah, ye of little faith....

+4 to an INFECT creature is worth sacrificing even a real creature to get. mind you, I'd use tokens, but that's just me...

@rubber- if you're using a pump spell as a MERE 'combat trick' (save your guy, and/or kill theirs), you're doing it wrong already. Think bigger. Pump spells are for ending the game, in a tradition that goes back to Overrun. Between Inkmoth Nexus, some random infect creature, and this, you should be in a position to win the game on turn 2, without even splashing green for Glistener Elf. That little black flier is playable on turn 1, I think.

It's pretty good if you've got some 1/1 creatures just chilling out. I'd sac a 1/1 to get +4/+2 for a turn.

Um. 2 cards to give something +4/+2? 2 toughness is frequently not even enough to save the creature, so you're often going to end up using 3 cards to kill one... Even if you feel the need to play combat tricks that absolutely MUST be common black 2 mana spells there are still much better alternatives. Last Gasp, Nameless Inversion, Scent of Nightshade, and of course Terror, Edicts, and Doomblade, which kill things perfectly well too. If you really want to be able to pump your creature's power, and Nameless Inversion isn't doing it for you for some reason, there's still Vampire's Bite and Virulent Swipe. This would be the first card i would drop from my deck in limited, even if i had nothing to replace it. Cannot imagine ever using this for anything. 0.5/5.

If you're a fan of the classics, use thralls for things like this.
