Because Grave Pact can't be reanimated. Hahaha, I love this thing.

I really wish this card had been Anowon, the Ruin Sage. I guess this is alright too. How many of the Black Zendikar Vampires that repeated a classic enchantment effect are there?

Yet another great card to combine with Deathspore Thallid and some saproling generation.

One thing I notice about this card is that if an opponent has this card out (or Grave Pact), when a creature dies, it initiates a huge amount of creature removal (Until one of you decides to sacrifice him). If you have him in a multiplayer game, the results will be devastating.

Easily 5/5. Some people compare him negatively with Grave Pact but he's actually better based on the fact that he doesn't force your teammate to sacrifice.
His rather large mana cost of 7 makes it pretty difficult to hard-cast him, which is why I always cheat him out with the Buried Alive/Exhume combo along with Disciple of Griselbrand and Reassembling Skeleton.
Bring the Disciple out with any return spell and you've got a pretty efficient sac/lifegain machine that, with enough mana, gets rid of any hexproof/indestructable/protection from colors anyone has. Combos nicely with a lot of things, especially Dark Prophecy and Tragic Slip.
