@Majinkajisan: Because it didn't need it. The artwork is amazing as is. I have a foil version from Alara Reborn and the way Jharic's spell highlights the whole scene is gorgeous.
This card can be pretty nutty in the right situation. Trading up your tokens for bigger creatures, or alpha-striking, or wrecking combat for your opponent are all very, very easy to do with this card. Lingering Souls loves this card long time.

Great finisher in a token deck - and against a token deck, for that matter. 
to buff your buddies, 
to weaken theirs is elegant, efficient and a perfect synergy of two normally opposed colours.
Also, imagine using this in multiplayer when everyone had 1-toughness utilities and pingers out.
You would have just painted a target on your chest, but their expressions would be priceless.

There was absolutely no reason for them to make Profit // Loss when they could have just reprinted this, put it in Maw of the Obzedat's place (another underwhelming Orzhov uncommon), and made a different split card.

This card can ensure that your tokens and creatures survive the combat phase and that your opponent's won't. This might be best used late game when you have lots of tokens and other creatures out. However, this can also be used for defense, or for an early rush in strategy to take 6-8 life from an opponent while killing his weaker creatures.

And then we could replace that stupid Warleader's Helix because it's so stupidly placed. WHY isn't Lightning Helix back? WotC is full of idiots and don't understand that we need MORE power-creep, not less.
Oh! What about Skull Rend? That pile of doodoo should've been Blightning. Blightning is a significantly better card, and because of that, I should get what I want.
Sarcasm aside, it's good that Wizards knows when not to print too many powerful things on one set. Remember, Orzhov in RtR isn't a token-based guild. Their creatures are primarily high-cost, low power/toughness guys with Extort. Since most of them are fat and lazy (see Massive Raid and Act of Treason), they aren't the type to fight with their hands. That's why they can only create a mediocre spell.

Nice for anti-token stuff in a token deck as it both works against swarms in the common way while boosting all of yours. Great for W/B who have to deal with, and play, lingering souls
