One of the premier burn spells of all time. The fact that it can be played when tapped out to instantly kill a creature, or to push through a few extra points of damage, makes it a powerful weapon in mono-red decks (and also a reason to use basic lands). It exemplifies Red's philosophy of throwing caution to the wind, in favor of a quick and sudden strike. In modern Magic, with all of its reliance on non-basic lands and multi-color scheming, I hope that we will see more cards like this appear once in a while to remind us of what mono-red burn is all about.

Then you haven't played with it in a burn deck.

@ nibelheim_valesti: Reread Shard Volley; it says to sacrifice a land as an ADDITIONAL cost. and mountain sac for 3, versus two mountain sacs for 4. There is far stronger utility power in this card... And yes, setting things on fire is considered utility.

Tensuillio, I don't think that combo works. Redirecting the damage does not mean that Nomads en-Kor becomes a new damage source. You only do 8 to the Mogg Maniac, which becomes 16 when it blasts the opponent, who you can then Shock to death. The Furnace of Rath does combo with Mogg Maniac, but not with Nomads en-Kor.

Turn 1 Nomads en-Kor
Turn 2 Mogg Maniac
Turn 3... well, you know. Turn 3.
Turn 4 Furnace of Rath followed by one Fireblast to the Nomads. 4 damage becomes 8, 8 gets redirected to the Maniac and becomes 16, 16 gets hurled at your opponent and becomes 32. A very silly defeat for your opponent, being obliterated by a goblin riding a nuke like Dr. Strangelove. One of my favorite casual decks back when all the cards involved were T2 legal.

I don't understand the idea of comboing it with Crucible of Worlds.
Why do you need to play more land after they're dead?

The definition of a finisher.

Amazing card. Thoroughly out-classes Shard Volley. Also combos well with Crucible of Worlds, but if you're running that, you're probably not playing it in the right deck.
