Apparently Wizards had this concept for a humanoid insectoid Golgari race since RtR.
WHY OH WHY DO I ONLY HAVE MY INSECT WARRIORS NOW

Reminds me on the invoker cycle from Legions, like stonewood invoker.

It's a bear that can be relevant later in the game. And really, what else can we ask for?

A bear that's relevant in the late game? Sign me up (in limited).

This is great in limited.
Unlike many basic small creatures, this does not become useless after the 5th turn. But after the 6th turn, if you got your lands down, this can become a tricky 5/5.
Let's say you have a few cards in your hand, 6 mana open, and they have a Lavinia of the Tenth out. If you attack, you're now creating all kinds of ideas in your opponents head:
"Is he going to boost it?"
"If I let it go, will I take 2 or 5?"
"What if he bloodrushes?"
"I guess Lavinia isn't doing anything for me..."
These are the thoughts you should be generating when playing limited. You should generally play your creatures and non-instant spells during your second main phase for this exact reason,
