Free Life is good. Lifelink is good. Heroes' Reunion is ok if you can honestly say your deck is really sick at generating your mana colors. Green usually is. But straight life wants to gain more than 5 at a time for less than 3 mana to be neat.
This card is a pretty good mock-Thragtusk actually. :)

I'm glad to see cards like this get a lowered rarity. I really like lifegain in an aggressive package, and it would be cool to make a limited deck built around it.

10 life and a 5/5 creature for 6.
I swear if I hear people complain anymore about lifegain I'm gonna slap someone with my triple digit life total.

The rarity shift on this could make it reeeeaally interesting in limited.

You could do far worse than 10 life and a 5/5 for 6. At uncommon it's a limited bomb that turns brutal if you can find multiples, and you likely will.

But lifegain doesn't make you win games!!!!!11!!!1eleventy
Nah, Lifegain doesn't win games in its own right, but what it does is push back the opponent's strategy, buys you time, etc, as long as it's done properly. Most people are still didn't realise that with Vampires.
Anyways, this is awesome, for obvious reasons. Huge boost and a fatty. And Stinkdrinker Daredevil makes this even better. God, you could actually curve into this turn four... wow.

Life gain is overall bad when it is what you are paying for. This card is like a 5/5 for 6 with ETB gain 10 life (a lot of the time anyway). Life gain alone is bad (heroes' reunion), but when you get it tacked onto other things, it can really help.
A lot of times, when you need life gain, it's because your opponent is playing very aggressively. Usually they play in such a way that makes them slowly lose cards, but for the purpose of reducing your life total to the point where you have to make bad trades (chumps or overkill with removal) in order to stay alive. If you gain some life, you essentially made your opponent waste their cards.

I played this guy in a giant tribal deck at Modern Masters draft and he was brutal alongside Stinkdrinker Daredevil. 10 life and a 5/5 turn 4 was ridiculously good in so many of those games.
