Wizards really wants to break us off from our multicolored shenanigans after Ravnica block, huh?

I'm with Shane on this one, this is by no means a bad card.
You can buy your missing colour early game, and then get free colourless mana once you're stabalized.
It's elegant and balanced and great for casual play, so what's not to like?

And back to common as Unknown Shores. In the very next set.
Why?

Whats wrong with this? It doesnt come into play tapped, great for mono decks who just need a minor splash.

This card is not terrible. Lets say you have enough land out but need one land to be a different color. That is where this comes in handy. This card was made specifically for budget decks unable to afford the duel lands

It's horrible but at least it's SOME fixing within M14. At least it's uncommon so you won't have too many of them filling more important slots in boosters.

Give me terramorphic expanse or evolving wilds. None of this garbage.

Like this will be any better as an uncommon.

@Continue I couldn't agree more. I was fine with this taking up an uncommon slot... Until I saw Unknown Shores. And while I like the art on Unknown Shores, my reaction was still "WTF?"

So, to be clear on why this is worse than City of Brass, and the other cards like it. In the early game, because of your lack of lands, you have a problem with getting the right colors, but late game that is not a problem because of the amount of land that you have. This cuts of your numerical amount of mana early game to provide you with colored mana, but that is often undesirable then losing 1 life. Remember, the only life that counts is your last.
