GrandAdmiralThrawn89 No, not black, just evil, and evil in a very white way.

White opposes black - white is about the community, black is about the individual - usually that makes them line up along moral lines, but white also opposes red, Order vs. Chaos, law vs. Freedom.

Wait Freedom? Isn't freedom a good thing?

White doesn't think so. Freedom leads to selfishness and sin, chaos and unhappiness for the society at large, a community can only function when there is order, everyone knows their place, and follows laws set in place to guide right action. Freedom is not important.

And so you get white creatures like imposing sovereign. Does she want everyone to bow to her for selfish reasons? No - she does it because that is her place in society. Without her order chaos would prevail.

It interesting how that translates into mechanics. She's not anti black, selfishness can exist in her world, rather she hoses red. Haste - red aggression an impatience gets entirely shut down. On the... (see all)

I'd rather have Blind Obedience, but why not run both? This can at least attack if you control both, and it has a relevant creature type.

Of course, if Wizards prints a creature version of Stasis in Theros, I might go crazy.

Creatures like this one are the reason I wish the "Lord" creature type still existed.

That's probably the Blackest flavor text I've ever seen on a White card.

Amusingly, the Imposing Sovereign doesn't seem to have a job of any kind and isn't even a Noble. She seems more like the Kim Kardashian of M14, distracting opposing creatures while not really doing anything useful.

I'll have to say that Blind Obedience is quite a bit better, even in an aggro deck.

Unlike an unimpressive 2/1, the extort is still relevant lategame (if you manage to get there for some horrific reason), and will probably take out about the same amount of life anyways from your opponent. It gives you a little bit more steam.

Also, if your opponent just overloads Electrickery or Pyroclasm or something like that, Blind Obedience will still be around to stay. And not many people run enchantment-specific removal anyways.

Aside from all that, the creature tapping is kind of only relevant in terms of blocking and haste. Tapping artifacts is very useful.

But IMO, if I am going to build a white weenie deck, I'll run neither- both of them don't really seem to have a place.

This is an aggro card- you shouldn't care about artifacts, this comes with a 2/1! Debtor's pulpit's extort fits better with a slow deck, it has extort.
