Not good enough. I agree. Needs an ability. And maybe 1 more power would do the trick. Maybe 1 more for the casting cost would be right in that situation. And probably a different name and move it up to uncommon.
After that I guess they'd need one more white common creature at 2 cmc, like perhaps a 2/2 with no abilities. They could call it... Oh, I dunno. Something like "Traveling Philosopher."
Man, I'm such a better designer than these fools at WOTC.

What terrible card design. Who wants to push into the red zone and beat down with "Traveling Philosopher"? This is a perfect example of being slaves to the theme of the set. If they wanted a generic 2/2 for drafts, they could easily have made some sort of "Swiftspear Hoplite" or whatever. Why on earth would you make a 2/2 body with a name like that?
It's genuinely jarring. Ew.
