Savannah Lion was enough for white weeny to be competitive back when white had Armageddon . White weeny took a HUGE hit when wizards decided that white couldn't kill all lands for 4.
This isn't power creep.
This is a solid card, but don't compare it to unplayable cards and shout "power creep!"

To me, the cyclops in the art is saying: Wait, did I read that right? For 1?

In other planes, the flavor text may suggest him being a schizophrenic serial killer.

So is it a policy with Wizards to create a card that hoses the main theme of the previous block? This would be the RtR hoser, Rest in Peace or Dryad Militant would be the Innastrad hosers, and I remembers similar things in older blocks (Imi Statue and Kataki, War's Wage for Mirrodin).

Strictly better than some top-tier 1-drops from other blocks, if you're playing mono-white.
Unfortunately can't be targeted by some really cool multi-colored buffs though.

I never thought they'd print a strictly better Savannah Lions, a strictly better Jackal Pup, and a strictly better Watchwolf.
I DEFINITELY never thought they'd print them all in the same set.

Walks through Ravnica and Alara like a boss.
Talk about totally pushed!

Wait.
Hold on a second.
This guy + Path of Bravery = stupid white weenie decks in standard.

Apart from his inability to wear Gift of Orzhova or be targeted by Martial Glory this guy does serious work at all times. Savannah Lions/Elite Vanguard/Dryad Militant with a protection ability and a further upside is nothing to sneeze at.

Flavor text significantly less creepy in fictional world than in real life.
