He's such a good utility card.

-His cycling ability offers colour-fixing by fetching ABU Duals and Shocks.
-His cycling ability can fetch Mistveil Plains.
-His cycling ability has a shuffle effect. Refreshes the top of your library for cards like Sensei's Divining Top and Scroll Rack.
-He has great synergy with cards that can repeatedly return creature cards to your hand from the graveyard, like Sword of Light and Shadow.
-He's still a big flier and can hold Equipment like a champ.

I run him in my Eight-and-a-Half-Tails Voltron Commander deck and I'm never disappointed when I draw him.

Apparently self-pleasuring oneself eternally becomes so boring that even our old friend is now looking for weird ways to spicy it up. What can you do, we're all victims of sexuality; even dragon spirits need to get some lovin'.

For those that don't know, it depicts an Ouroboros; a tail-eater in Greek, a snake (or serpent) depicted to eat its own tail. It symbolizes cyclicality, in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself, like the Phoenix. Ain't that dandy.

All levity aside, it's a 5/5 flyer for 7 mana which is "bleh". But it can also thin your deck early by drawing you those nasty plains (or shockl/dual lands) out. It can be discarded and come back to your hand later on, or be summoned as a 5/5 flyer when you need it. He's white, meaning you can clear the table with a Wrath of God and then get this one back on the battlefield again.
I wouldn't say that I like the new art better than the old one... (see all)

Simple, elegant, and awesome. Gets you started early, keeps you going late.

...And I like having at least 1 dragon in each of my EDH (commander... pffft...) decks. Call me crazy.

Repeatable card advantage comes at a steep price; but it's a big deal for some decks to be able to continue a perpetual ramp. Even better? At 5 mana he ensures that you'll get enough to cast him.

Excellent insight Zefyrus but I would like to point out the Ouroboros is older than Greece. It came in the 14th century BC in the Enigmatic Book of the Netherworld.

He's never not good.

Times have passed his prime usefulness, but I'll be damned if this isn't the most adorable dragon ever.
