Oh great. The time-travelling kill spell that nobody can pronounce is back.

" For the record, it's pronounced "tie-sis". <- from the Modern Masters comment page
Nah but, in multiplayer formats this is a much more useful card. Almost always has a target.

Something that this and Curse of the Cabal teaches us is that the threat of power has power. Suspend shouldn't just be a way of cheaply casting things: It should be a motivator, a looming threat that causes an opponent to react differently. And nothing does so better than Phthisis. Drop it early, watch them squirm, and then after it resolves and they cast their fatty Murder it anyways just 'cause.

FF-th-is-is is probably the best way to say it if you like annoying people.
I like that you'll always have a good target in multiplayer; that or everyone will hold back; giving you time to set up nasty enchantments like Tainted Aether.

I like the idea of casting this on a monstrous Colossus of Akros. Sure it won't kill it, but your opponent won't be so fortunate.

Currently the highest rate card because it's gotten exactly one vote. Time to even the odds heh heh heh. However, it is a great card solely due to the fear it causes. Would you want to play a fatty while this is drawing ever closer? I know I wouldn't.

As the suspend counters start whittling down, there will surely be some nervous looks on your opponents' faces if they have anything big out, like an Eldrazi or pumped up critter. If they had the balls to play one before this goes off, that is...

This card's name in all future reprintings should officially be changed to "Phthisis?" with a question mark.

This is the kind of uncommon which you would expect to be a rare.
