To those saying this art doesn't have any scale or looks boring and smooth, get a better monitor: Seriously, do it, this art is crazy detailed and gets more and more horrifying and huge the more you look at it. That little figure in the center of this thing's chest? Yeah, that's a dude. This thing's the size of a large elephant, and like all New Phyrexians is less machine come to life and more flesh-warped monstrosity.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Guy, guys, the reason this looks different than the old Gargantua is that it is of New Phyrexia. Look at the background. That is the Mephidross, part of Mirro-New Phyrexia. The new Phyrexia is much more horror-flesh synthesis-based than mechanicics-based aesthetically. I personally think this looks much better. More horrifying, more corrupted and wrong. If you look closely this is someone's torso and head spliced/fused onto that hulking (totally 4/4 looking) frame by strips of tortured sinew and flesh.

I agree with DarthParallax and DaLucaray.
The original art depicted a huge and sturdy, menacing mechanical crab with glowing eyes.
This new art doesn't look like the fattie it is, nor does it look like something Phyrexian.
It doesn't have the infected looking, grotesquely wired, skeletoid and somewhat insectoid body with rotting skin.
It looks more like a Sliver from M14 than a Phyrexian.
Phyrexian Delver's new art, which was also drawn by this card's artist, Igor Kieryluk, has a similar problem.
Don't get me wrong, he drew to excellent artworks - in fact, he is the man that drew Elesh Norn and various Phyrexia-aligned cards like Priests of Norn - but this artwork just doesn't look particularly Phyrexian to me.
Maybe he was given more area of freedom wit... (see all)

I think the card needed a newer, blacker, less orange coat of paint sure;
but I also think I was digging the robot-insect look of the old one as feeling sort of 'classy Phyrexian'.
adding pincers or a tail could have been cool. the one thing the last art did Very Well was make itself look bigger than other Phyrexians.
This doesn't have Scale to it. It looks too much like a normal Evil Figure. It looks like a 2/3 with vigilance or first strike-- Not a 4/4 that ensures you lose 2 life because it offers you power, wickedly torturing its summoner and knowing you will always gleefully let it pain you, makes it almost seem like somehow, for an instant, it's got 6 power. it's just a fleeting moment, an instant that's more in your head than real.
But that old card definitely felt bigger than it was. This one feels smaller than it is. There's something wrong with that.

Sheoldred: .....ARE YOU SERIOUS!? SEVERAL MONTHS OF R&D AND THIS IS WHAT YOU CAME UP WITH!? WALKING ON TWO LEGS!?
Flesh priest leader: Yes ma'am. Isn't it wonderful that all those effort, time and resources have made this unit more efficient than ever by making it bipedal?
Sheoldred: ....."sigh" Just ready it for mass production.....
