Remember guys, its second ability stacks. It's not implausible that you may activate its second ability two, or even three times.

Gaining 6 or so life and having your opponent lose 18. Sweet.

Not that hard with lifelinkers (Whip of Erebos), swingy but cheap lifegain (Rest for the Weary) and, of course, amazing with Boon Reflection and Rhox Faithmender

Please help me understand how Vizkopa Guildmage works. Let's say I have Vizkopa Guildmage and Tainted Sigil out and I pay the second cost on the Guildmage and sac the Sigil. Doesn't this combo end up making an infinite loop because of the language on the cards? They both say "this turn" so until the turn is complete, I imagine that the loop continues on and on.

For example, let's say I do 5 damage to a player under these conditions. That player loses the 5 life. Because of the Sigil, I gain that 5 life, but because of the Guildmage my 4 opponents each lose 5, which I gain 20 for, and then they would each lose 25. Wouldn't this repeat ad infinitum without paying any more activation costs? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this and I can't find a specific thread on this. BTW, I'm using this combo with Kokusho, the Evening Star for maximum damage and fun.

@CaptainDaedalus

The ability from Tainted Sigil only happens once, counting all life loss that has happened that turn up until that ability resolves.

So lets say a player lost 5 life. You activate Vizkopa Guildmage's second ability, then sac the sigil. The sigil's ability resolves, causing you to gain 5 life. That is the end of the sigil's ability, you will gain no more life from this use of it. After that the delayed trigger from the guildmage goes off, and each of your opponents loses 5 life. This does not cause any further life gain from the sigil's ability because that has already resolved.

The second ability does however create a loop with Exquisite Blood, since it is also a triggered ability.

Combo it with Congregate in a casual Multiplayer for some massive nuking.

Still works decently in normal games when playing against decks with a lot of creatures (particularly token decks)

I like having options. His abilities are relevant to black/white, so I can't deny his right to be in my deck.

3.5/5, one of the few mediocres I'd put in my deck for granting me options.
