After years of underwhelming blue sea serpents and fatties, It's hard to comprehend that a 6/6 for 7 in blue has a useful ability.

This is exactly how I feel when there's a 3D-rendered vehicle in an animated Disney film. Sticks out like a sore thumb. I understand that, by this logic, Cars 2 is a nauseating mess, but that would have been the case anyway.

With Kiora, Whelming Wave, and all the other krakens and leviathans in the set, I feel like Sea Monster tribal casual is waiting to be made.

As long as you're playing mono-blue, this is very similar to Tidal Kraken. A rare that wasn't really that weak.
Watch out for it in limited. I mean, REALLY go out of your way to snatch these. Hate draft them. Splash blue. I don't care. A 6/6 coming at you where you usually need a tougher blocker to block it is simply TERRIFYING.

Nice for limited. artwork sucks mightily, especially compared to the fantastic pieces on many BNG cards.

Ia Ia, Cthulhu Fhtagn! Best artwork in the set, hands down.

Just watch out for pump spells that could engender a surprise block.

As with the other sea monsters in this set, I can't help but wonder why none of them have islandwalk--especially this one. It's like WotC thought Sealock Monster was a mistake. The only mistake was to not print islandwalkers in its block.
I know I need islandwalk support, but I still prefer Harbor Serpent to this. And it's a common. Not to mention it isn't competing with Colossal Whale and Tromokratis for mana slots.

Unacceptably bad artwork.
Why is Wizards allowing 3D? It's hideous.
