A 2CMC 2 power guy, that can either be an early game aggressor or chump blocker, and a late game buff that effectively replaces himself when the creature dies. I see nothing wrong with this. You are comparing this to Goblin PIker and Coral Merfolk, Ferlord? I would agree that the Merfolk is usually not in the blue limited strategy, but Piker is totally in red's. Fast guys that attack. What is the problem? You play them, buff them, and/or burn a path for them, and turn them sideways. Nothing wrong with that.

Eternal_blue, I beg to differ about bestow. Earlier in the game, he would be able to put the pressure on your opponent, and makes a fine target for bestow. If drawn later in the game, you can buff up a dude, preferably one with some form of evasion. And since he sticks around if that dude is killed, he isnt that bad.

mattrva77, i see nothing wrong with both flashmad steed and the felhide brawler. If you are playing a Black/X aggro deck (or monoBlack, GO GARY!!), then there is not... (see all)

Guys, the options for early creatures for black in Limited are VERY slim. For example, Pain Seer is actually amazing for being a bear and having an ability rather than a drawback, totally aside from his amazing ability.

Your other options for a 2-drop REALLY don't look good either. Fleshmad Steed? Aww heyellll nah. And, while Felhide Brawler really ain't too bad, his drawback ALMOST makes him not worth playing outside of Minotaur tribal. I still guarantee he'll still make his way into sealed and draft decks where he's the ONLY, lonely, Minotaur.

The fact that this card is not a dead draw mid- to late-game makes THIS the "mediocre 2-drop needed to fill a gap" of the bunch. That Bestow is what makes this waaaay better than people are allowing for. As Bestow costs go, this one isn't too unreasonable, either. A lot of you guys look at cards like this without the ... Oof... Goblin Piker's/Coral Merfolk's are hard to consider in limited, since they ARE creatures... but are just so sub-par they aren't usually worth your time.

This goes the extra mile by having the same CMC and Bestow cost as Baleful Eidolon, but sacrifices deathtouch for +1/+0. Yay?

All in all... I mean, it's still a Bestow creature... but...

Leafcrown Dryad

Sure that's green... but this is worse in so many ridiculous ways you could almost say strictly already.

@Ferlord:
Black has plenty of vanilla 2/1's: Skeletal Snake, Dakmor Scorpion, Wei Infantry, Krovikan Scoundrel.

This card is like Gift of Orzhova - you just need one in foil!

French vanilla, but hey...it counts as an enchantment. Right?

This will never be played for its bestow cost so just forget that it exists. All you need to focus on is the fact that it's a vanilla 2/1 for 2 mana that also dies to enchantment removal. Fortunately, this creature is so bad no one's going to be trying to remove it anyhow.
