So why doesn't this do anything against the Triad of Fates?

Unless the Fates are in combat of course, but that pretty much never happens.

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&text=+&type=|&color=+Green

A quick search reveals that there has never been any green instants that grant creatures shroud at common or uncommon. Stonewood Invocation at rare isn't exactly a limited card.

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&type=|&color=+Green&text=+

Another search shows the only common/uncommon green instant that does indestructible is from Scars of Mirrodin, a set in which indestructible was a minor subtheme due to Darksteel. You can even see darksteel in the art for the card.

There has at least been more than one previous green hexproof granting instant but three is hardly a trend.

So here is this set's limited green creature protecting instant. These never gave shroud and now it is a heroic enabler in a set filled with heroic enablers to make sure limited runs smoothly.

@anotherfan321- The bit about mortals' lives being measured with thread and cut when they die is 100% genuine Greek. The three fates spun, measured out and cut the threads that dictated your lifespan.
As for the bit about the thread turning to iron? I have no clue.

You guys are probably overthinking this. The thread turns to iron purely as a manifestation of the mortal's determination. A will so strong, even their thread defies death.

And here is this set's Limited green creature-protecting instant. These used to give shroud but now they bounce between hexproof and indestructibility.

So, is this from real myth? That bit of flavor? I only know it from the disney movie.

Cool heroic enabler. Indestructible's nothing to scoff at.

Now the question comes becomes: This, or Ranger's Guile? Avoid all death, or avoid all targeted removal?

Of course, it'd probably come to a 2/3 or 1/3 split with sideboard options, but it's nice to have both available!

@TPmanW
I think it's either foreshadowing or just a running subtheme of iron being related to mortals defying the will of the gods. See Fade Into Antiquity.

Funnily enough, this still works on Gods.

I like the fact that this can protect against Extinguish all Hope. Very flavourful.
