I think I would just prefer Deadly Recluse, to be honest.

Although Deadly Recluse is generally better than the Cobra, I think that they chose this card for Vraska's deck because it fits the flavour a little better.

To be fair, there are actually very few snakes in Magic that aren't linked to an out-of-place mechanic like poison counters or an out-of-place setting like Kamigawa. Jace's deck is chock-full of fliers and the Cobra's Reach ability gives Vraska an answer to them.

All the same, I'm a little disappointed that Ambush Viper wasn't reprinted into Vraska's deck. It's an awesome snake, and having another spell to play at instant speed would have been wonderful, as there are only four instants in her deck before you tweak it.
