I think it should have had "cannot block and is unblockable".
Why?
Because it's ALREADY LOCATED INSIDE YOUR OPPONENT'S EAR!
What, is it supposed to crawl in, steals their thought, and then crawl out again and rush across the battlefields back to you? what?

Even if it is killed off immediately, you draw a removal spell on a 2 drop and acquired valuable information about their deck. Great card. pi+1/5.

The "creatures in someone's ear" deck grows bigger and bigger!

Seems like a very punishing followup to the Turn 1 Thoughtseize.

As mentioned, the effect has been done before as Mesmeric Fiend. But even though it isn't completely original, it is a neat card. And the art gives me the shivers.

So... Tidehollow Sculler, Mesmeric Fiend, this thing and Sin Collector seem like a pretty fun deck.
I also understand why they did this update but I wish this had been done slightly different like Banisher Priest to Fiend Hunter. Strictly worse is frustrating.

Strictly less disturbing than Mind Maggots.

Tidehollow Sculler, now with less white and artifact!
How do they compare? The maggot is more splashable, but the sculler comes with 1 more power and toughness and a better-supported tribe. The maggot dies to Erase and the sculler shatters to Smelt. The sculler dodges Go For the Throat, but they both fold to Naturalize and 's exile suite.
Ultimately Tidehollow Sculler is probably the better card, but I will always prefer Brain Maggot because it's a maggot, and maggots are adorbs. :3

Decent enough card; it's no Tidehollow Sculler, but it's still pretty good. 4/5
