A new, updated version is in New Phyrexia (Blind Zealot). The only things changed were the creature type and it lost the "can't be regenerated" clause but gained Fear.

Its a deterrent for attackers and a nasty little thrull. When they leave 1 blocker untapped you can remove the defender and reach your goal of assassination.
