Another gift from Homelands.
This card isn't actually good. You're getting a 4 for 4 version of Lava Axe, which was never great in the first place, but your opponent can not die instead. Sure, you've locked down his ability to play creatures, but you'd have been better off with a card that would have actually killed him instead. It's off color, but that doesn't make it that much better. On top of that, you can't aim the thing in a multiplayer game, and it'll whiff if your opponent's deck is creature poor too.
The only thing that saves it from utter worthlessness is silly Pithing Needle combos.

Even if you're going to do a silly Pithing Needle combo, Lethal Vapors is likely to be better.

the crap???? How come ONLY the first commentor gets it???
this is a Poor Man's MOAT! o.o
It's Blue. Blue pretty much has nothing to fear in the days of 5th Edition except permanents, of which there are few to speak of that RESOLVE because Blue probably didn't give them PERMISSION to.
You get this down fast enough, and it won't matter anymore- they won't be allowed to resolve EVEN if you don't have the Counterspell in your hand.
Their Only Hope?
to give a BLUE deck REACH at a competitive 4 damage on Turns 4-6! Which even though it's not spectacular, it helps it KEEP up with the amount of violence other decks can produce.
The shell of the Weissman Deck is naturally powerful for a ton of reasons, and Aether Storm itself isn't going to be pushing that deck further along, but IF you don't have a Moat, instead of looking at what the card can do for the deck, you can look at what the deck can do for the card and say that The De...
