Just make it a threat and they'll try to kill it. Killing it will let you get two more threats back on the field though, so it makes them a little hesitant.

*Looks up standard* Nope, no good birds around. Oh, the Squadron? without a Sword?

Hell yeah, Masticore. :P

An absolutely amazing and possibly broken enabler for not one but two tribes. Its held in check only by the fact that there are no good clerics or birds to bring back.

Seriously? This card is AMAZING in my B/W Scion cleric deck. This +Dark supplicant and another cleric. Sac the three, get two back. You can now have 2 Scion of darkness in a very short amount of time. With black mana floationg around in the deck, a dark ritual should help get this guy out early.

'What tribe do you play? Birds? Clerics? Why not BOTH?'

This kind of versatility is nice. Nothing I hate more than pulling a tribal lord and not having a deck of that tribe.
