Quoting the Ruling,"9/16/2007
Although Vesuvan Doppelganger's triggered ability is targeted, its "as enters the battlefield" ability is not. "

Since the enters the field trigger doesn't "target" anything, that means that creatures with "Protection" can be copied when it enters the battlefield, but not after Because "Vesuvan Doppelganger's triggered ability is targeted"

so Progenitus the 10/10 with "Protection from Everything" Can be copied when Vesuvan Doppelganger comes into play (just like Clone, but unlike Cackling Counterpart which legitimately has to "Target"

Anyways this card is one of the original "copy cards" and the only one that doesn't copy the color of the Copied card

5/5 for originality and being special for so long

This card was the best back in the day.

When it comes into play it doesn't target.

10/10 "protection from everything" is the best in the game I'd say :)

@Kirbster: So you could change to another creature that was more optimal than the one previously copied. It's basically a Clone with the ability to change it's target.

@Dragon- you missed his point. which was, "if this is the best creature it would just clone itself." I think?

@ Pontiac: Where did you get protection from everything? She doesn't have protection from anything! lol

If it's the best, then why would one ever want it to copy another creature? You'd just want it to be Vesuvan Doppelganger - the "best" creature - all day long.
