Not a game-breaker, but he's pretty efficient.

I don't think that's so worse than Rogue Elephant. Plant Elemental is more tough, especially in Legacy with people bolting it. Image your Rogue Elephant hit by a Bolt... oh thanks, 2x1!! In spite of this, this card otherwise so beautiful has been completely made futile by Tarmogoyf.

Although losing a land on turn two doesn't sound worth it, green has pretty sufficient mana ramping anyway, and it's drawback combos with Knight of the Reliquary and Terravore. And probably a million other cards.

One of the very few post creature-type-update creatures with the same creature type as name. This greatly pleases me.

Haha, this card TRIES to be as awesome as Wood Elemental.

Don't compare it with Tarmogoyf, think of how they get along. This card puts a land in your graveyard for the Goyf to feed off.

5/5? What are you smoking? This swamp thing should be called poo elemental...if it weren't for Wood Elemental. If you're that concerned with removal, use Scythe Tiger.

Does the forest become the plant elemental? I'm glad they found better ways to do this.
