It's good in a green black Elder Dragon Highlander deck, lets you get more use out of your wood elves type cards.

I remember when this used to be good... If they printed something like this nowadays but an instant, it would dominate! Not even as broken as Skullclamp. Do it, Wizards!

I am playing Dragon Appeasement.
The additional cost is purely a boon, as far as I'm concerned.

Seriously need to have this rated higher. Should at least be a 3. Black is known for giving up something (be it life or creatures) to gain something. This is a great card and really should be respected more. As said before, it helps trigger SO MANY different abilities that make this even better than it already is.

Not if you're playing a Savra, Queen of the Golgari or a Grave Pact deck, however. Or Dragon Appeasement. Or if you're not playing mono-black, seeing as the two black mana might be hard to come by in some decks...

@ClockworkSwordfish:
Well, now they've done it. Innistrad seems to have a few cards that overtly acknowledge the M10 rules' changes to card power: Altar's Reap, and also Fleeting Image -> Lantern Spirit.
