This card may appear bad, but it actually saved my ass once.
I was playing with my family and my dad had an Omnath, Locus of Mana combo on the field (Patron of the Orochi and Awakening), so he had a stupid amount of mana.
Then he played Soul's Fire on Omnath and pointed it at my mom.
Since my mom had helped me earlier, I had made a truce with her and, as part of the deal, , I had to try to protect her
I also knew that she had a hand full of burn and, if I couldn't save her, might send it at me, and I was only at 5.
My dad was at 19, so I knew it was pretty unlikely she'd be able to kill him with whatever burn she had, but she could probably kill me.
I had an Urza's Armor, but of course that wouldn't really stop anywhere near enough of the 50+ damage coming at me.
So, hoping to flip over some kind of counterspell, I played, appropriately enough, a Frantic Search/... (see all)
