No, the equipment does not become unequipped. Equipment can be attached to creatures that are controlled by another player with cards like Vulshok Battlemaster. The actual Equip ability can only target a creature you control, but once attached it doesn't care who controls what any more.
The important thing to note is that if you control the equipment, then you can pay the equip cost and move it to one of your creatures. The person who controls the equipped creature can no longer pay the equip cost of the equipment, nor any other abilities of the equipment (such as Sunforger or Sword of the Paruns). Equipment that grants abilities to the creature (such as Viridian Longbow) are still only able to be activated by the controller of the creature, so read carefully!

so, if i use this on an equipment already attached to a creature and gain control of equipment, does the equipment become unequipped when i gain control of it? because i have an enchantment that says enchant creature and opponent controls and if i gain control of the creature it is unattached due to a state based effect. since equip ability says equip to target creature you control does it work the same way?
