id say the discard one, considering your making them lose cards, and they still have to have more than you

I wouldn't put Vex in a deck, that doesn't sound like fun.
I do like this card though. A lot. pretty good instant speed draw, even if it doesn't net you cards unless it returns to your hand.

Works with forbid pretty well. Either they play something you want countered with you discarding or they don't and you get a net card.

I think both this and Pulse of the Dross are sort of niche cards. They don't really look that good, until you find the right deck.
This card probably works best in blue decks designed to dump your hand asap. Odds are, you will be able to use the recur mechanic a few times. Keep in mind the recur triggers when this is on the stack, so if you only had this in your hand to begin with, your opponent only has to have 2 cards. It would also work great in an Owling mine deck. Lots of cheap bounce spells and artifacts so you, while keeping your opponent at 7+ cards.
Pulse of the Dross would probably work best in a cheap monoblack deck. Maybe something lobotomy themed with Surgical Extraction, Extirpate, Snapcaster Mage, Dark Confidant, and some efficient mill to get the ball rolling (Glimpse the Unthinkable and Breaking // Entering).

I think this may be the worst of the pulse cycle.

Put Dream Fracture, Vex and Arcane Denial in a deck with this card and have fun!

This is the Best of the pulse cycle, your only increasing your hand size by 1, so it's very easy to set yourself up for multiple uses of this card.

Scenario:
Opponent has three cards in hand.
I have two cards in hand: Pulse of the Grid, Obsessive Search
If I use Pulse of the Grid to discard Obsessive Search would I be able to cast it for it's madness cost and still return Pulse of the Grid to my hand?
