Modular is the successor of the Chimera's ability: Iron-heart Chimera, Tin-Wing Chimera, Lead-Belly Chimera, Brass-Talon Chimera
This card is a nod to them. Would have been cool if the errata was 'Chimera' type instead of Beast though. I can't really see why it isn't, seeing as the art depicts a classic chimera configuration... Aww well, I love retro synergy. : P

Good point, an indistructible artifact creature would help against that.
I guess at that point you just hope they do not have an path to exiles.

This looks like it would be pretty scary with Tempered Steel, as the curve is just right, and this would be a 4/4 with haste and modular.
