Why on Dominia's sake is this only getting a 3.2? Very high defense, makes it outlive most burn spells, black prevents a lot of removal, who cares how high much damage it causes as 1 damage kills. Not only that but it kills through regeneration. The only negatives I see is maybe, a bit pricey, and it doesn't cause a lot of damage outside of an artifact deck to a player, but then just keep it in an artifact deck. So, just the price. 4.5/5

702.15e. Any damage that would be dealt by sources that have the stated quality to a permanent or player with protection is prevented.
Since Mephitic Ooze is a black source it cannot deal damage to a permanent or player with Protection from Black.

its a stone cold killer. it can block at 5 and in an artifact deck its' first effect can quite easily make it a 12/5 or better

I wonder if this card can kill creatures with Pro-black, because it says, "Whenever Mephitic Ooze deals combat damage to a creature," pro-black only prevent damage from black sources, it doesn't prevent them from DEALING it in the first place. Any guru help here?
