On all the printings of this, people have left a comment of how amazingly they used this card early game, but they don't actually say how they did it.

The best counter to this card is making your opponent shuffle after playing each dragon.
I'll teach you to smile when playing me dammit!

Actually the quick kill combo with this is Mountain, Rite of Flamex3, Seething Song,Dragonstorm. Then you go grab 4 Bogardan Hellkite. And obviously target all 20 damage at your opponent.

Amazingly fun game-winner. Unfortunately hard to use against thoughtsieze, among many other things. However, I've dealt 60+ damage turn 3 many times, and it can be 1st turn, so still very cool.

Mountain, Rite of Flame, Rite of Flame, Rite of Flame, Rite of Flame, Dragonstorm would come to my head as the most obvious way someone would cast this first turn, resulting in 5 dragons from your deck being put out. Also leaves you enough mana for a Mass Hysteria for the first turn kill. Very unlikely though. That's why its best to think of how cards play in an average scenario, rather than their best case scenario.

Awesome. Fast mana spells are out of Magic, most likely for good, because of this card, it's that good. Dark Ritual? 'Too Powerful'. Seething Song? It's first time in a core set was it's last time. Rite of Flame? No way that's comming back. The only fast mana remotely possible now are 3 for 2 spells and Simian Spirit Guide-type 1 mana producers.
