Blade of the Bloodchief isn't necessarily better. It probably is USUALLY better, but I like the fact that this doesn't have an equip cost. Just Black and I'm ready to go. However, the equip cost on Blade isn't that bad, it really just matters about how fast I'm planning on killing stuff after I cast this.

Also, Blade is pretty obviously better in a Vampire Deck.

Blade of the Bloodchief is rare. This is a common. It's also over a decade old.
Plus, this has flavor text from Gerrard, instantly elevating it's coolness factor.

I'd probably prefer Blade of the Bloodchief as it is an artifact and could go into any deck (though best with Vampires, obviously). Sure, you need two mana to cast and equip the same turn, but if the creature dies, Blade stays behind to be equipped on something else.
Sadistic Glee is, though long out of print, a common that can still be bought on the secondary market for a small fraction of the cost of BotB, not that the latter is particularly expensive for a rare.
Both have their benefits, and can actually compliment one another quite well in a Vampire deck or any other black deck with a lot of creature elimination/sacrifice.

Slap this on Village Cannibals and watch them get bigger and bigger.

There are so many great things to put this on, my personal favorite being a Triskelion for weanie removal, or play this with a Thopter Squardon and Ashnods Altar for some unlimited mana enjoyment. One of my favorite creature enchantments, especially in multiplayer.

This is pretty good in decks where things die by design, such as decks with Echo creatures like Yavimaya Granger and Bone Shredder. Phyrexian Ghoul/Nantuko Husk are great targets for this, as they get both temporary and permanent bonuses with every meal.

Interestingly enough, there are multiple creatures from Jund with this ability welded on, which fit in with the devour theme (they watched with glee as other things were eaten perhaps?):

Algae Gharial
Rockslide Elemental
Scavenger Drake

Blood Cultist and Kresh the Bloodbraided have a similar, but not equal, ability as well.

Gerrard's sword is in a dangerous position, its painful to think what would happen if that guy facing him jumped on the hilt...
