Nah, it was still overcosted even in Mirrodin. But you're possibly right, it eventually had some use in draft.
By the way, isn't this supposed to be a Plant Wall actually? Roothold sounds much like it belongs to a tree.

Yeah, unless your opponents running a lot of artifacts this is just a Wall of Wood that costs more.

A tricky one to rate. In Mirrodin block, it's obviously going to be pretty powerful, but in the wider scope of the game, it's too expensive. There's not really an elegant way to have reconciled these factors. I guess they did a decent job of it in the end though.
