Licids are interesting. But not that useful. It'd be cool if they tried to re-make them now.

@Tommy9898
You're trick doesn't work. It would be neat if it did, then you'd also be able to put this on an opponent's creature after first strike damage so it wouldn't hit at all.

I love the "turn into an enchantment" thing this has going on. I'd love to see them take another stab at it, but with modern templating and phrasing.

Soulbound comes close, and it shows that Wizards is into the idea. They just need to take it a step further (and stop with the pseudo-keywords that have three lines of reminder text anyways.)

If a creature loses first strike after it assigns first strike damage, it won't assign combat damage during the normal combat phase. Specifically, if any creatures in combat have first strike, there will be a first strike damage phase. Creatures in combat with first strike assign damage in this phase. Then, all creatures in combat that didn't assign combat damage in that phase will assign damage in the normal combat phase.

502.2b During the combat damage step, if at least one attacking or blocking creature has first strike or double strike, creatures without first strike or double strike (see rule 502.28) don't assign combat damage. Instead of proceeding to end of combat, the phase gets a second combat damage step to handle the remaining creatures.

502.2c Adding or removing first strike after the first combat damage step won't prevent a creature from dealing combat damage or allow it to deal combat damage twice.

Here is a neat trick. Once the "enchanted" creature does the first strike damage. Remove the licid and it will than do normal damage as well. For a little extra mana, this card can give double strike!

Licids can inadvertently gain phasing by latching onto a creature with phasing. Whoaaa.
