The end of mana burn kind of removed part of this card's early meta-game. As a red player, you could use this to great effect with cards like Fireball and Disintegrate, and you only had to worry about burn if someone got rid of your red pump creatures. (If you didn't have such a creature out, you were doing it wrong).
