Know what sucks? When you have a Grave Pact, and an opponent plays one too.
Me: Grave Pact, and go ahead.
Him: Um... Grave Pact.
Me: Well this is awkward...

ummm Misago, while I agree with your love of Grave Pact, I disagree with the idea that you should only run one in a deck. Firstly, a second Grave Pact isn't a completely dead card; now for every creature, each opponent sacrifices TWO creatures. While this probably isn't optimal, it's not useless either. Also, if you're gonna build a deck completely around grave pact (like your casual BR Gobs) you want at least three (probably four) grave pacts because it's so good to even get one. Of course, if you've got plenty of Demonic Tutors/Vampiric Tutors, you don't need four, but most people don't have such old/expensive cards. Also, if you've only got one in deck, you can easily get blown out by, say, disenchant. Those Mogg War Marshals don't seem so hot once they don't come with 3x Diabolic Edict. If you manage to get grave pact out and running in a deck that's utilizing it, you're gonna have a hard time losin... (see all)

A very great card played in the right deck. Maybe along with Bloodthrone Vampire or something like that.

Grave Pact: making it impossible for multiple opponents to beat you with creature-based strategies since 1998.

A great build-around me card, can be devastating against creature decks, although it is will be destroyed at the first moment...

(Card Rating: 4.0) Grave Pact is always a pleasure to play in a multiplayer format. If your oponent's do not have an answer for an enchantment in thier hand, any strategy they have involving even the most sturdy of creatures (i.e. Progenitus) will be fruitless. In light of the hefty 3 black mana required to cast it, Grave Pact is a rather difficult card to splash. Because having more than one in your hand equates to a dead card, Grave Pact makes my list of superb "one of's". Since you will be already running black, I recommend Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor to make it seem like you are running three in your deck. If you are on a budget, Diabolic Tutor will suffice. In my favorite casual black/red goblin deck, I run 1 Grave Pact along with... 4 Mogg War Marshal, 2 Goblin Chirurgeon, 2 autoca... (see all)

Gotta post on the original. ... Reprints bow down.

This is a terrific card - especially in black. Very powerful if played alongside the right cards. I like to play it with Fallen Angel and Verdant Force/Embrace.

Can't give it a 5 - it has BlackBlackBlack in the cost, plus 1; and by itself, it does nothing. Can't give it less than 4 - it's just too powerful given the right circumstances. I'll say 4.

With Grave Pact, Mycoloth and a life gainer (Soul Warden/Attendant or other), fuh-get about it! Splash a Doubling Season or Parallel Lives in and the game is yours.
