Psychic Venom makes better use of this idea, especially since it only costs 1U and deals two damage any time the land it enchants is tapped. It can hurt a player early in the game.

There is no playing around this, unlike psychic venom this doesn't have a trigger, it activates every upkeep.

Yeah it's read, but you can do this as many times as you want; at instant speed; for less mana. AND you can do it for spiteful play in multi-player because the damage doesn't leave play when you lose.
