I like the flavor, but it needs to be a */* creature.

What if it said "'s power and toughness are each equal to half your life total, rounded down. When is destroyed, you lose life equal to half your life total, rounded up." and you gave it Lifelink on top? :)
Maybe even BOTH ways of wording lifelink, so that it really stacks?, but not actually doublestrike, because you only want it to be an efficient Life-based meat shield, not an uberstriking Attack Stick?
